Baptism Candles and Christening CandlesPosted: 19-09-2011

Design of Baptism Candles and Christening Candles - any design is possible.

On our website, you have the ability to design your own candle. Whether it is a Baptism Candle, Christening Candle, Wedding Candle or for any occasion. There are a number of options:

1) You can choose an existing design from our Baptism and Christening Candle range - exactly as it is, and simply capture your personal details to be added to the candle,

2) You can choose a design from our Baptism Candles and Christening candle range, but specify some changes you may like to the layout (simply add your requirements in the instruction box). If you just want the expression changed from Baptism to Naming Day or Christening. Or, if you would like the same style but in ‘boys’ version or a ‘girls’ version, simply capture your amendments in the instruction box. We are more that happy to amend the Baptism Candles and Christening candle designs to accommodate your needs.

3) You can create your own design from scratch using our ‘Candle Design Simulator'. Please be aware that the ‘Candle Simulator’ has its limitations. The font size can not be amended online, nor can multiple fonts be incorporated. However, we always review and enhance your chosen design. We often amend and vary the font sizes, and of course we always ensure that nothing is overlapping (even if it has appeared that way on the simulator).

Please feel free to contact us about your Baptism Candles or Christening Candle requirements. If you are looking for the most beautiful Baptism candles, you have come to the right place!

Baptism and Wedding LambathesPosted: 12-07-2011

We have a wonderful new range of candles for those of you requiring Orthodox celebration candle. Since receiving numerous enquiries regarding the availability of Lambathes, we have decided to add them to our range! The candles are 74cm long and 3 cm wide. They are decorated with traditional soft tulle. The tulle is available in white, blue and pink. Our sample candles have quite simple tulle skirts, however we can make them with a fuller skirt if ordered as such.

We have a vast range of ribbon colours and styles to choose from. You can order the existing candle styles as they appear, or you can substitute different ribbons that can be seen on any of our other candles. The Candles also have various embellishments available, again these can be substituted as required.

Please feel free to contact us for further information, or if there are any other variations you would like.

Our Baptism and Wedding Lambathes can be picked up from Mont Albert in Melbourne. Alternatively we can send the candles to you. We take great care with the packaging of your candles, and due to their size, the delivery charges are a little higher than our other smaller candles.

Please try to order early to avoid disappointment. We look forward to helping you with a special candle for your occasion.

Baptism Candles and Christening Candles for your Special DayPosted: 28-05-2011

What should be on my Baptism or Christening Candle?

Each day I receive enquires from people regarding Baptism candles and Christening candles. I am often asked “what is meant to be on it”? This is a difficult question because it really is a personal choice. There are generally no formal requirements from the Church for the content on a personalised candle. There are of course a number of elements that are nice to have included.

1. The child or persons name always features prominently on all our candles.

2. The date of the occasion. Our candles are designed to be retained as a keepsake of the special day, hence the date of the occasion is an important inclusion.

3. The location of the Baptism, Christening or Naming Day. Many people like to include the church name and place, others don’t. It is entirely up to you.

4. The Godparents names. Often it is the Godparents that are organising the Baptism Candle, and they like to have their name on the candle. again this is entirely optional.

5. A verse or special message. There are many existing verses, poems etc that can be used, or you can create your own.

How many candles do I need?

As a general rule, you require at least one candle to be used as part of the ceremony (but always check with your church and their requirements). Many people prefer to order additional candles for the Godparents to hold and then to keep as a gesture and keepsake of the special day. Some of the orders I receive also include requests for bomboniere candles to be presented as small gifts to the friends and family present on the day. Once again, it is a personal preference.

Most Commonly Asked QuestionsPosted: 07-03-2011

How quickly can my personalised candle be made?

This is the question that I am asked most often by people. If required, I can make a candle within 24 hours!! There are always circumstances where a baptism candle or even a wedding candle needs to be turned around very quickly, and I am more than happy to assist whenever possible. It is very important to make a note of the urgency of the request when you order your candle.  Whether you select an existing style, or if you are ordering through the 'design your own’ section, there is an ‘instructions’ box. This is the best place to note the timeline requirements for your candle. Alternatively, you can always email me or call me, to confirm the timeline. I have never missed a deadline yet!

When a candle needs to be produced urgently, it is important that we can prepare the artwork proof and have it approved by you quickly. So if you submit an urgent order, keep an eye on your emails so when the proof comes through from me, you can confirm the details are correct asap.

How do I send you a photo to be included on the Candle?

Your photo can be sent to me either via email (contact@personalisedcandlesandgifts.com.au), or when you order through ‘design your own’, it gives you the option to upload the photo there. Whatever is easiest for you, suites me. The higher the resolution of the photo, the better the outcome on the candle. Of course the clarity is never the same when it is incorporated within a candle, but the photo candles usually look pretty good. My customers are always pleased with the result.

Please, if you have any questions, just email or call.

Beautiful BombonierePosted: 16-02-2011

Bomboniere is an Italian word meaning favours - gifts given out on special occasions to guests. They are usually given out in appreciation and as a keepsake or memento of a special occasion. Traditionally, bomboniere are most commonly associated with weddings, however recently, I have noticed that people are giving bomboniere quite often for other occasions. It is a lovely guesture.

Our Bomboniere candles are 7.5cm high x 5cm wide. They are can be personalised with a small photo, special words, graphics or anything that suits your needs. All of our Bomboniere candles come in beautiful organza bags making them an ideal gift or keepsake for someone. A candle is a great option because it not only looks beautiful, it is functional too. Who doesn’t love a beautiful candle? Particularly if it has personal details or an intimate message imbedded within the candle.

Here are a couple of recent examples of Bomboniere I have made.

Helpful Tips for buying Personalised CandlesPosted: 01-02-2011

After having spent some time in the candle business, I am well aware that the quality of candles can vary immensely. For the benefit of my clients, and any prospective candle buyers out there, I thought it may be useful to capture some relevant tips. Here are my top 3 high priority tips for purchasing personalised candles:

1) Imbedded Image -  make sure that the personalisation details are imbedded within the candle. Many personalised candles simply have a sticker sitting on the candle surface. A more robust and quality product is one that is imbedded within the candle. This looks better and provides a clean, smooth finish. It also makes the candle last longer and more resistant to damage. Many people like to keep their Christening or Wedding candles as memento’s of the day, an imbedded image will enable this far better than any sticker on the surface.

2) Pure White Colour - there is significant variation in the colour of candles. For Christenings, Baptism, Weddings, Memorial, Birth, Birthday, etc, it makes a major difference if the candle is a real pure white. Some candles are a little translucent  or yellow and I personally find, that the finish is nowhere near as beautiful as the finish on a pure white candle.

3) Burn Time - your candle should have significant burn time. Our 22cm candles for example, burn for approximately 120 hours, and even our smaller ones have long burn times.

I hope this proves useful. Please contact us if we can be any assistance at all.
